I get around
The plan for the weekend:
- brunch, walk,
- meet up with Ed, walk,
- eat New York pizza, chill,
- house-warming party for a middle-school friend, eat, walk,
- bar-hop, sleep,
- go to wedding.
Part 2: By the time Ed and I met up at Chambers St station, the light rain completely soaked through my long-sleeve and was creaping into my boots. So me and Ed ride the 2 train to Brooklyn and its completely pouring outside. Taking cover underneath an awning, I try to imagine which way to walk towards Lelia's place. I know I'm making Ed look like a tourist in his own city - something I hate having done to me. After a couple laughs under the awning, and my unsure leadership in a southward direction through the rain, Ed and I find Rutland Ave. Once at Rutland, I actually guess left to and we have to take a U-turn as the street addresses lead away from where we want to be. Finally we make it, pick up the rain jacket and umbrella, and head back out (where its not raining nearly as hard anymore).
Part 3: Brooklyn and Prospect Park aren't very much to look at so Ed and I resolve to head to Midtown, where Ed lives, and get pizza for college football-watching. He lives right near Central Park and the Hudson River and the 29th? floor view is great. Still, my river and tv-watching turn to nap-time - which is interupted a few minutes later by fireworks to celebrate the restoration of some ship. Saying good night to Ed without seeing the wife, Patti, was unfortunate; apparently she works alot, alot harder than Ed that's for sure.
Part 4: From Midtown, I ride the train to 103rd and Broadway to meet up with Ardis in front of her Riverside Park apartment. The house-warming party for Samuel and Stephanie isn't nearly as awkward as it could have been. Despite not seeing either of them since middle school, we hit it off and all had a nice time eating cheese and drinking Brooklyn brews. Also Ardis ran into a couple people she knows through Teacher's College and the Folk Art Museum. Then Ardis and I get sushi and sake. Its late already.
Part 5: And I'm tired. No bar-hopping for me. Only a return to Brooklyn for to sleep.
Part 6: coming soon
