Back in Atlanta

I've been living in Atlanta for more than two months now. And, as promised with the by-line of my blog, there's more to talk about beyond my experience in Los Angeles.

Right now, I feel like my Atlanta life is so far removed from Los Angeles life. The words Los Angeles look foreign to me, like I was never there and don't have a connection to it. But my checks still have Los Angeles on the address line, and only today did I change my google profile to Atlanta, GA as my residence (or did I?).

But I am still connected to LA. My friend Will A, who lives in LA, came to visit over Memorial Day weekend. He and Dawn are connections to my former LA life. And Sayuri has relocated her LA-for-life-until-Atlanta-and-now-Atlanta-is-the-bomb self to Clarkston (just outside Atlanta)... so there's another connection.

My life in ultimate frisbee is still connected to LA, sort of. Will A is an ultimate player - and the friends at his Memorial Day bar-b-que were ultimate players, a couple on Atlanta teams, including Chain. By simply having played ultimate in LA, I feel better prepared to return to Atlanta and go the season with Chain. Getting the experience as a quiet leader and offensive creator with Monster, I'm doing... well...

I'm getting ahead of myself is what I'm doing. I have to make the cuts after this coming weekend and be physically prepared once the heart of the season rolls around (which, thankfully, is after the election).

Turns out I just wanted to talk about ultimate. Thanks, Rob, for reminding me to blog sometimes.

Glad to hear you're still in the game, Ben. Look for an up-and-coming coterie of ne'r-do-wells out of Bloomington. Our working title is "Skeetpocalypse." I won't be playing until I get back in August, but it'll be interesting to see what club is like. Have you ever sat down and really thought about the differences, both on and off the field? Any revelations on that?
