Camp Day Uno
Today we got going. Campers arrived. Here are some stories from the day:
I reunited with several guys from camp 2011, shared smiles, jokes and throws in the quad between their registration and full camp orientation. Helpful for me was learning that one of the Arab players from my team last time now plays on the national team here.
After orientation, individual team time started with a fun game called Mingle. Its a more hilarious and active version of musical chairs. We also learned names, answered a survey, and talked about our goals for camp. AND we made a team flag and cheer around the name "Fire Throwers" (we have orange jerseys). It was a packed hour and a half.
Camp this time is pretty similar, like its teenagers at camp with frisbee and peace :-) On the other hand, perspectives and skills have changed a lot. Many of the campers are now bigger and more athletic than coaches. On top of that, I'm more overwhelmed by the need to have a strong plan for the down time and actual ultimate training.
Here was a fun moment I barely caught on camera. A large lizard walked across grass where my team was practicing. So a couple guys got in the picture.
