Training

I'm getting in better shape before the ultimate season. My goal of late has been to up my workout frequency to twice a week. For some that wouldn't be a huge accomplishment (I can think of one and two examples). But its a realistic goal for what I need to move in the right direction.

Been doing one day of lifting and one day of jumping each week; or one day of lifting and one of running; throw in a long bike ride or two and its a complete week. But to really improve explosiveness, endurance, and throws - especially deep throws - I need to excel at these areas:
  • eating right
  • lifting right
  • running both long and short distances
  • throwing right, and throwing alot
The huge slice of cake I had after lunch today might not fit in this diet :( and new regimen. Any suggestions on how to optimize my training this Spring? Or share how you're optimizing your training time... (pic borrowed from Scott's website: scaughtyphotography.smugmug.com

If you are a runner, they have these online services where you can input your race or marathon and a training schedule will be created and emailed to you instantaneously. I know this is ridiculously lazy, but how NICE would it be to have an ultimate frisbee training schedule emailed to you on a daily/weekly basis. The program creates it for you, then... on Monday you get an email "Do strength work out - here's what you are supposed to do". Then Wednesday you get an email "do cardio - here's the work out". This goes on for weeks and you can tweak your schedule as needed. Wouldn't that be nice?

Sora,
Couldn't one sign up for one of those services and create an "event" for whenever you have a big tournament? Next thing you know, you have a training regime (to take with a grain of salt as it's focused on marathon running and not ultimate).

Thanks for the link over buddy. Why don't we hit up Grady once a week for the next month or so and do some intervals? The other day or two during the week can be individual lifting/running.

I am making a better effort on my blog. The impending season has many thoughts and ideas floating around in my head. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the link Ben. Right when I give the blog a rest for the month.

Lift heavy things with good form.

Run fast. Then rest, and run fast again.

Eat real food. If you are eating cake or drinking beer, it should be good cake and good beer (and you SHOULD eat cake and drink beer -- cake and beer are awesome).

Rest your body. Keep looking good.
