Tryouts

After a great time at home last weekend, I spent this week working hard at the usual research and writing stuff.

Yesterday and today I rose early and stayed out in the sun playing ultimate... trying out for some ultimate teams that I really admire.

There's been a kind of politicking going on for allegiances in this area. Some of the top talent recently arrived, or recently persuaded, remains up in the air on which team they'll join assuming they get invitations from both (or all). I'm talking about the Santa Barbara Condors, LA Monster, and other west coast programs.

The Condors approach the game really seriously. Their cohesiveness and talent level impressed me. And I would encourage anyone in their area to play with them.

But I'm pretty sure I'm going to play for the LA team, known last year as Monster. The friendliness and focus should make for a great team. And I'm encouraging the other LA guys that I've talked to (by LA, I mean Long Beach, Westwood, etc) to play with LA as opposed to commuting up to Santa Barbara (or even half that distance) all year long.

This is all building up for a huge summer season and fall club series!! Last year was close and this should be even closer.

In related news: I've been thinking about the Atlanta guys lately, too. They had their first round of tryouts this weekend and I miss 'em. I often wish I hadn't cut out in the middle of the last season to move out here. If I had stayed, I would have had a chance to keep ascending in skill and contribute to the team's semi's appearance at Nationals. Can't forget about my Truck Stop boys. From the metro east - straight representin'.

Anywho, here's a picture. What are you doing to be in place and shape to make a play like this? Seriously, share your workout plans and stuff for the season even if you think its top-secret information.
