Did I do the right thing? Part 1
After reading the August writing in my personal book, I wanted to answer some of the questions I had then with my experiences since.
In August, when I heard from my current employer that I was offered the job, I had a couple of emotional days of ultimate and time with friends to think about my decision. I could have called first thing Monday. But, instead, I volunteered at the Open Door and returned home to list the pros and cons of the move.
My 'Did I do the right thing?' series will cover some of those pros and cons.
New experiences topped the list of pros.
I have the ultimate community to thank for lots of the enjoyment I have had so far as a resident of LA. Ultimate tournaments are always new experiences, with Vegas and Davis, Santa Monica and San Diego beach, topping the charts for fun ultimate weekends. My job has flown me several places: Little Rock (quiet, small city) and New Orleans (rebuilding, diverse city) new destinations to me and Washington, DC (post-graduation) a new atmosphere for me. See the Neglect and Been to New Orleans (with pictures) and Organizing posts related to the trips.
New friends have attracted me into new neighborhoods, including 'Skid Row,' Highland Park, Echo Park, Manhattan Beach, Orange County, West Hollywood, Pasadena, and more.
That's all I got for part 1. For today.
Also coming in this series: pros: progressive politics; cons: far away, little salary
