Summer Lovin, or Lovin Summer

Some friends' notes reminded me that summer's coming up soon.

Ed reminds us here that summer is about ultimate - not just tryouts, but the bulk of the season. Summer is about reading, as Lil shows in her Greenville News article, "Reading: Antidote to Summer Boredom." We get to relax in the summer, like ole boy Bert, as described in his latest list.

Generally, summer encourages spending more time outdoors, watching baseball and catching fireflies. People spend time with their family, doing things like road trips and Slip-N-Slides. People hang out more, going to place like Magic Mountain and events, such as free concerts in Centennial Olympic Park.

In Atlanta, my dad and I would walk down McLendon after dinner to the corner store and buy some root beer and ice cream. When we had Sandy around, we'd take her with us. You know how dogs jump up when they hear their leash rattle out of the kitchen drawer cause they're about to go on a walk? Well she did that and sprinted down the stairs to smell up the entire neighborhood.

At the corner store, I never knew whether Sandy would have liked to be inside the store or stay outside the store. She barked at us when we left her outside; but I think that's because she loved us, not so much because she didn't want to see the other people and dogs walking by. Trips to the corner store had to have been a fun part of summer for her, too.

US Social Forum 2007

The following is one version of my email to tell friends and family about the US Social Forum in Atlanta this summer. Tell your friends about:
------------------------------------------------------
Hello,

I'm writing to tell you about the 2007 US Social Forum and invite you to meet me in Atlanta for it this summer.

I have decided to go (June 27-July1) because it acts on the belief that 'another world is possible,' because I want to learn more about other peace and justice movements in the country and world, because hip-hop and other cultural events will accompany the workshops and teach-ins, and because friends, family and more activists will be there.

If you're interested, the website is: www.ussf2007.org

And tell your friends and family about it!

I apologize if you think you got this message in error or if the language sounds manufactured. These are my own words and I sincerely hope to see you there.

Ben
