Decisions, regionals, and red-eyes
Two months ago, I decided that this weekend was when I would return to the Middle East. I gave hardly any thought to Regionals, a pretty major tournament in the USA Ultimate season. Instead I predicted that middle September would be the time for local frisbee things to kick off - and prioritized ultimate in the Middle East over Atlanta.
I've been suffering for a few days now over this missing-Regionals issue. As you probably know, Regionals is step two in the three-tournament playoffs for USA Ultimate (Sectionals is first - and Nationals comes last). Here's a now-outdated history of me at Regionals, tracing some college and other club stuff. Congratulations are in order for Bucket and Ozone and other qualifiers!
I arrived to a couple friends greeting me at the airport - then about an hour of extra time in the car because of holiday traffic. Dined at the local - and famous - hummus place. A short work call and hour or so of reading before bed. What's funny is I have a bedroom, a nice bed, quiet, all that. And I slept as many hours here as I did on the red-eye flight. Strange.
Anyway, here's some evidence of the travel:
