The Hardest Post I Ever Published

In language class at GW, a regular exercise for 'beyond daily conversation' was to discuss the hardest decision we ever made. Well, naturally, everybody said about the same thing: deciding which college to go to was the hardest decision I ever made.

The truth is, at least in my case but I'm guessing in other's cases, also, which college to go to was probably the easiest decision I ever had to make. Michigan and UGA wait-listed me and I didn't want to go to the other school I got into.

So I lied about the hardest decision I ever made. Just to be normal.

Now my philosophy is that sometimes the most difficult decisions in our lives are the simplest. Like what to wear. Or what to eat. In honor of all those classes I lied to all those times, here's my honest version of what the most difficult decision ever would sound like, in English:
"the most difficult decision I have ever made is what I would wear today. I thought for 30 minutes about what this shirt versus that shirt says about myself, the weather, and the [insert extraneous data] I'm going through today.
And I chose an [mention color and fit, age and purchase price] shirt with [it doesn't matter] pants [or does it?]. But I presently regret the decision to wear this particular combination because the shirt flairs out at the stomach, making my whole body look less desirable than I want; and this is turning off potential sexual partners."
The End

Interesting post about deciding what to wear... but I guess we've all been there and had those days!

But I'm with you that the decision for where to go to college was not that hard at all. I honestly don't even remember it being much of a decision. I knew I didn't want to go to UGA, GA Southern, GCSU, or Armstrong - because everyone else from my high school all went to those schools. I only applied to one other school besides Kennesaw. At the other school I applied to and was accepted to, I had a basketball scholarship offer - but it was a tiny school in the middle of nowhere. And then I just ended up here somehow... which turned out to be perfect since I ended up studying business and the business school here is really great!

For me, deciding my major was a much more difficult decision than where to go to school. I declared 5 different majors and minors 7 different times...

Bud - I totes feel you on that clothes thing.

I mean - if you get the shirt that poofs out, you spend a LOT of your day thinking about that poof. And, I think that it rarely actually makes us look that much fatter so that people are less sexually attracted to us. BUT I think it makes us FEEL fatter, and so people are less sexually attracted to us because we don't put out a feeling of "I am so sexy."
Question for you: would you rather wear a shirt that you think makes you look super sexy, even if everyone else in the world secretly thinks it's not so great? Or would you rather wear a shirt that actually makes you look super sexy to everyone else in the world but makes you feel fat when you look in the mirror?

Deep thoughts from Kate early in the morning...

Kate,

You have to go with a shirt that you think makes you look super sexy, even if everyone else thinks its not so great. And if those people actually think its not so great, shouldn't they speak up? If they did speak up, would you stop thinking that the shirt makes you look super sexy? Or would you continue to rock it?
