Mexican Food

I really like good nachos, burritos, and other Mexican cuisine. So here goes a little bit about a couple places I frequent.
The Burger Place
Though it has a real name, this little place in the downstairs of my office's building first came to my attention when some people I work with ate the burgers here. The menu has pictures of burgers and traditional (northern?) mexican food; but the best items, for me, were not to be found on the menu. I usually order a rice, beans, and cheese burrito, which comes with chips and salsa on the side. Today I ordered nachos. That makes at least two things there that are both cheap and tasty.
The Place in My Neighborhood
If you've visited me and my home, I probably took you here. My old roommate, Scott, turned me on to this 'genuine' lunch and dinner spot for neighborhood Latinos. The names of beer companies are misspelled on the awning, the pre-meal chips come with three salsas and limes, and the loud music perfectly accompanies the spicy and greasy food. I usually get the Chile Rellenos Burritos, but that junk nearly gave me a heart attack last time, with all the chile's seeds burning my mouth and opening every gland in my face.
El Cholo
A couple people I work with invited me here my second week or so in LA. I brought along Scott, the cool roommate, and sat with the two state staff and my boss at this oversized margarita and Mexican food spot on Western Ave (the restaurant has other locations, too). I've been here a couple times for weekly specials, summer specials (green corn tamales), and birthdays (DaveTM). I didn't talk almost the entire first time I went here; but I'm opening up to the place and the idea of talking around my friends and co-workers.
La Cabana in Venice Beach
Love this place... it serves strong margaritas in a calm atmosphere, the kind that's worth trekking from downtown or bumming to from the beach. I really like the nachos, though they put chicken on the dish after I asked for it on the side, and fajitas. Plus, this spot has a little mariachi band a few evenings a week.
Side note: I'm still not good at handling hot spices... working on it.

There is chicken on those nachos...tasty they look
That food sounds/looks amazing.
Are you serious about your not talking to anybody the whole time you were there? You are a very socially engaging/outgoing person; I find this hard to believe.
seriously, when I went to El Cholo that first time, my roommate Scott had to do all the talking (I'm pretty sure my co-workers thought we were together, considering how little I talked and how it seemed that Scott was talking 'on our behalf').
since then, i've made friends with my co-workers. and i talk with them, too. unless they're speaking spanish. then i just let the conversation go until an uproarious laugh when i ask for a translation.
mexican food and mexican language... one's foreign and one's not
