Juicy Fruit

The gum is noticeably different now than when I had it last.

I bought one of those 25 packs (not 5 packs of 5 sticks, but the actual 25 pack where there's the regular wrapping and the white wrapping; and the white wrapping always starts to stay wrapped around the sticks when there are only a few sticks left). And I found a picture on images.google.com like I usually do (if I had a digitial camera or one on my computer, I'd use it to capture the Juicy Fruit; but I don't, so a German website had to supply the photo).

And I am convinced that each stick of Juicy Fruit is much skinnier than it used to be.

I'm not talking about 10 years ago 'used to be.' I'm talking 'Juicy Fruit was a thicker stick of gum six months ago.' I had to chew on two sticks just to get some old fashioned Juicy Fruit taste for more than 30 seconds. And I'm sure you all have had the same experience... Juicy Fruit or some other gum manufacturer skimping on the portions.

I'm blogging about this topic cause I bet you've had the same experience...

I'm blogging not because Juicy Fruit is all that important, but because there's power in the number of people fed up about something. Fed up enough to actually blog (and comment) about it! [sic]

You know what I am pissed about. You know the pink cylyndircal gum that comes wrapped in a yellow waxy paper that has blue and twisted closed ends? They changed the flavor and it sucks and it make me mad. Was it Double Bubble?

Raymond -- I believe the monstrous gum purchase you're referring to is the "Plen-T-Pak"; I remember it used to be 17 sticks of gum (why 17???). Has the super-sized American food culture demanded that the 17 be upped to 25? I'm impressed by the girth of your gum-pack.

Ben -- I was never a Double Bubble man myself, but does Bazooka still exist? Does it still have those weird ruts in it? Why was it shaped like that? Is anyone listening to me?

Bazooka had always had those weird ruts in it, definitely. But the cartoon with every stick made it alright.

What about the bubble-gum version of chewing tobacco? Was that the best thing at the age of 8 or what?

i tried chewing that "little big league" chewing gum tobacco stuff. i had trouble with that gum because it never became a chewy wad, but instead the shreds of gum would melt into mush.

i preferred bubble tape and the zebra striped gum with the free tattoos that you put on your tongue.

"You know what I haven't had in a while? Big League Chew."

Oh Family Guy, you used to be so great.
